The first tuned handbells were developed by brothers Robert and William Cor in Aldbourne, Wiltshire, England, between 1696 and 1724.They were originally used to rehearse arrangements for tower bells without annoying the neighbors ! St Clement handbells ringers haven’t been around quite that long; however, we have a group of committed rings who practice on Monday.
