Forthcoming EventsSeptember 2010Parish Open DaySaturday, 18th September 2010 - Start: 10am, Finish: 4pm We are holding an Open Day to welcome anyone who has an interest in St Clement's to come and have a look round our church, be treated to a coffee and scone and to have the unique opportunity to try their hand at ringing the church bells. October 2010Charity Coffee MorningSaturday, 2nd October 2010 - Start: 10am, Finish: 12 noon This is the annual Charity Coffee Morning at the Branch Church. The chosen charity this year is Sale's Society for Abandoned Animals. This local charity was in fear of closure and has launched a rescue appeal to help it continue saving the lives of abandoned pets and finding new homes for them. We are called to care for all God's creatures and hope you will be able to support us again this year. We look forward to seeing you there. Harvest Festival at the Branch ChurchSunday, 3rd October 2010 - Start: 10am Produce brought for the Harvest will be auctioned after the service and the proceeds will be sent to the Booth Centre in Manchester to provide food and refreshment for the homeless in our city centre. This has proved to be a most successful activity with everyone joining in the spirit of the occasion and giving generously to the harvest thanksgiving and afterwards in bidding for the produce. Harvest Festival at the Parish ChurchSunday, 10th October 2010 - Start: 10am Gifts of tinned and dried foods suitable for sandwiches, instant soups and foods are requested at the Parish Church and will be given to the Booth Centre. Harvest SupperSaturday, 23rd October 2010 - Start: 7.30pm We shall be celebrating the season of Harvest with a traditional "Hot Pot Supper" followed by family entertainment. We hope you will be able to come and join in the food and fun. November 2010Service to commemorate the Faithful DepartedTuesday, 2nd November 2010 - Start: 7.30pm, Finish: 8.30pm This is our annual service when we remember and give thanks for those whom we have loved but who have departed this life. If you have a connection with St Clement's Church and wish to have a loved one remembered at the service please either contact Rev Cath Faulkner or add the name to the list that is available in church.Then please feel welcome to attend the service and light a candle and/or place a flower of remembrance. Parish Communion with the Dean of ManchesterSunday, 7th November 2010 - Start: 10.00am, Finish: 11.30am We are pleased to be able to welcome the Dean of Manchester The Very Revd. Rogers Govender this morning. He will Preside and Preach at our morning service and we hope that many people will come to join in our worship and hear what Rogers has to say to us all in this time of interregnum. Remembrance Day ServiceSunday, 14th November 2010 - Start: 10.00am, Finish: 11.15am Our service of Holy Communion at the Parish Church will end with an act of Remembrance and the laying of wreaths on our war memorials. Christmas FairSaturday, 20th November 2010 - Start: 10am, Finish: 3pm More about this later in the year. Patronal FestivalSunday, 21st November 2010 - Start: 10am, Finish: 11.15am Our church is dedicated to St Clement whose day actually falls on Nov.23rd but we celebrate St Clement's Day at our 10 o'clock service this Sunday. ChristingleSunday, 28th November 2010 - Start: 10.00am, Finish: 11.00am This is Advent Sunday, the start of our preparations for Christmas and we celebrate this by holding our annual Christingle Service at the Parish Church. We also invite members of the congregation to bring new toys or gift vouchers. These are later distributed as Christmas presents to children in need by the Family Centre in Partington. December 2010Parish Outing to Arley HallSaturday, 4th December 2010 We are planning a coach trip to Arley Hall for their Christmas Fair. There are lists in both churches if you wish to add your name and join us for the outing. Branch Church ChristingleSunday, 5th December 2010 - Start: 10am, Finish: 11am Christingle is a service in support of the Childrens' Society in which we also provide toys and gift vouchers for the Family Centre in Partington to distribute to families in need of help and support. The Family Centre is run by the Childrens' Society and is greatly appreciated in the area. Everyone present at the service will receive a Christingle to take home. Urmston Grammar School Festival of ChristmasWednesday, 8th December 2010 - Start: 7.00pm We are pleased to welcome Urmston Grammar School to the Parish Church again this year for their Annual Christmas Festival. It's wonderful to be able to host this event and maintain our firm connection with the school. Scouts Carol ServiceMonday, 13th December 2010 - Start: 7pm Always lots of fun after a lot of hard work by all the Scout Leaders as well as all who participate in this celebration of Christmas. It's great to be able to host this service again this year. We're all looking forward to it enormously. Highfield School Carol ServiceWednesday, 15th December 2010 - Start: 7pm We have strong links with Highfield School and are delighted to welcome them again this year for their Annual Carol Service. Mothers'' Union Carol ServiceThursday, 16th December 2010 - Start: 7.45pm All are welcome to come to the Mothers' Union Carol Service - men too! You do not need to be a member to join in any of the MU activities. Traditional Carol Service of 9 Lessons and CarolsSunday, 19th December 2010 - Start: 6pm This will be held at the Branch Church. Crib and Carol ServiceFriday, 24th December 2010 - Start: 6pm, Finish: 7pm This candle-light service at the Parish Church has become a favourite. We shall create a crib scene, light the Christmas Tree and sing carols.The church is always packed so come early. Midnight EucharistFriday, 24th December 2010 - Start: 11.30pm, Finish: 12.30am The First Communion of Christmas with sermon. Christmas Morning EucharistSaturday, 25th December 2010 - Start: 9.30am Christmas Day celebration of Holy Communion with carols using the Book of Common Prayer. |
